Onnellisten Hiihto (“Ski of Happiness”) is an annual cross-country skiing event held in the beautiful surroundings of Tapionniemi in Kemijärvi, Finnish Lapland. The event welcomes both active skiers and recreational participants who wish to enjoy a relaxed and joyful ski day in Tapionniemi village.

Whether you are visiting Lapland or living nearby, you are warmly welcome to join this traditional spring skiing event.

The Participation Fee Includes

Tapionniemi – A Village in Kemijärvi Between Two Rivers

Tapionniemi is a peaceful village very well accessible with roads and railway to Kemijärvi. From Tapionniemi you can access the backcountry of the village with its gravel roads and trails. You can also access Pyhä-Luosto National Park as it is only 20 minutes drive away. Tapionniemi village layes on the riverbanks of Kemijoki River which is the longest river in Finland. Tapionniemi and Kemijärvi is a great place for fishing and water sports as well as and enjoying the silent nature.

The old village school, built in 1932, is newly renovated and nowadays called Kyläkartano (The Village House). It is a historical building, one of the rare wooden buildings which has survived the wars of Lapland. It is also a very beautiful building. The villagers have renovated it restoring the history and capturing the beauty of a traditional log-house. Kyläkartano, The Village House, is owned by the local village residents via their association. Kyläkartano is mainly used by locals and their events and visitors. Kyläkartano also serves as a summer cafe open every day from June to September. It is an excellent venue to organise events.

Everyone interested in the life of a small iconic Lapland village and life of its residents, are welcome to visit us and join our events!

WEDNESDAY LUNCH EVENT EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 11:30.

The village house host WEDNESDAY LUNCHES. On Wednesday at 11:30 there is a lunch event and bingo (except over the christmas break). Lunch menu is announched in Tapionniemi Facebook and Instagram. Lunch costs 12€ and it includes the ticket to play bingo. Bingo can be organised multilingual when international guests are joining! The bingo event is a fun way to get to know the local community!
